Common: headache or migraine, breast tenderness, nausea, and irregular or breakthrough bleeding. Others: mood changes, tiredness. Serious (seek medical attention): signs of a blood clot (leg pain/swelling, chest pain, sudden breathlessness); yellowing of the skin/eyes; severe abdominal pain; or a serious allergic reaction. Report these promptly.
Take it exactly as prescribed — the timing within your cycle (or in pregnancy) matters, so follow your doctor's schedule carefully. Swallow with water at the same time(s) each day.
Take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not take two at once. If you are taking it in pregnancy and miss doses, contact your doctor.
It is sometimes prescribed in early pregnancy to support it or prevent miscarriage. Use it only as directed by your doctor, and tell your doctor if you are or may be pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Tell your doctor about any history of blood clots, liver problems, unusual vaginal bleeding, or hormone-sensitive cancers. Do not drink alcohol, and report severe headaches, leg pain, or breathlessness.
It is not a contraceptive. It may change your bleeding pattern depending on how it is used. Discuss contraception separately with your doctor if needed.
