About ETOSHINE 90MG TABLET 15'S

  • Etoshine is a branded formulation of etoricoxib, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that selectively inhibits cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2). It is primarily used for the management of pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gouty arthritis, and certain acute musculoskeletal pain states. By selectively blocking COX-2, etoricoxib reduces the production of prostaglandins that mediate pain, swelling, and inflammation, while having less effect on COX-1, an enzyme involved in gastric protection and platelet function. This selectivity may reduce, but does not eliminate, the risk of gastrointestinal irritation and ulceration compared with some traditional non-selective NSAIDs. Etoshine is a prescription-only medicine and should be used under the supervision of a registered medical practitioner. The choice of dose, duration of therapy, and indication must be individualized based on the patient’s clinical condition, age, kidney and liver function, cardiovascular risk profile, and concomitant medications. The lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration is generally recommended to minimize the risk of adverse effects. Etoshine is not intended for long-term use in all patients, and periodic reassessment of the need for continued therapy is important. Commonly reported side effects of etoricoxib include headache, dizziness, dyspepsia, heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, edema (swelling of ankles or feet), increased blood pressure, and fatigue. More serious but less frequent adverse reactions can include gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, severe skin reactions, liver enzyme elevations, kidney function impairment, fluid retention leading to worsening heart failure, and cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke, especially in patients with pre-existing risk factors. Patients should be advised to promptly report symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, sudden weakness, black or bloody stools, severe abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or severe skin rash. Etoshine may not be suitable for individuals with a history of peptic ulcer disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, severe heart failure, established ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, cerebrovascular disease, severe hepatic impairment, or significant renal dysfunction, unless specifically judged appropriate by a specialist. It should be used cautiously in older adults, patients with hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, or those who smoke, as these factors increase cardiovascular risk. Etoshine can interact with several medicines, including certain blood pressure drugs, diuretics, anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, and other NSAIDs. Patients should inform their healthcare provider about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, and herbal supplements they are taking before starting Etoshine. Etoshine is not a cure for underlying joint disease but helps relieve symptoms to improve function and quality of life. Non-pharmacological measures such as weight management, physiotherapy, exercise, and joint protection strategies should be used alongside medication. Because etoricoxib can affect laboratory parameters such as liver enzymes, kidney function, and blood pressure, periodic monitoring may be recommended, particularly in patients on prolonged therapy or those with comorbid conditions. Patients should not self-initiate or continue Etoshine beyond the prescribed duration without medical review, and they should never adjust the dose on their own. Always follow the prescribing doctor’s instructions and the information provided with the product pack.

Uses of ETOSHINE 90MG TABLET 15'S

  • Helps in managing pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis
  • Is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
  • Is beneficial for relieving pain and inflammation in ankylosing spondylitis
  • Is used to manage undefined acute gouty arthritis

How ETOSHINE 90MG TABLET 15'S Works

  • ETOSHINE 90MG TABLET 15'S works by selectively inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, substances that play a role in inflammation and pain, providing relief.
  • ETOSHINE 90MG TABLET 15'S exerts its therapeutic effects by selectively inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). COX-2 is responsible for the production of prostaglandins, which are substances involved in the inflammatory process. By inhibiting COX-2, ETOSHINE 90MG TABLET 15'S reduces the production of prostaglandins, leading to decreased inflammation and subsequent alleviation of pain. Unlike traditional NSAIDs, ETOSHINE 90MG TABLET 15'S has a higher selectivity for COX-2 over COX-1, which is involved in maintaining the protective lining of the stomach. This selectivity helps minimize the risk of stomach ulcers and gastrointestinal complications associated with traditional NSAIDs. ETOSHINE 90MG TABLET 15'S is well-absorbed after oral administration and reaches peak plasma concentrations within one hour. It is metabolized in the liver and primarily eliminated through feces. The recommended dosage and duration of treatment should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the individual patient's condition and needs.

ETOSHINE 90MG should be taken as per your doctor's prescription. Long-term use may increase the risk of heart and stomach-related side effects, so regular monitoring is advised.

What is Etoshine and what is its active ingredient?Arrow

Etoshine is a brand of the medicine etoricoxib, which belongs to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) known as selective COX-2 inhibitors. It is used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gouty arthritis, and certain types of acute musculoskeletal pain. The active ingredient, etoricoxib, works by selectively inhibiting the cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins that cause pain and swelling.

What is Etoshine commonly used for?Arrow

Etoshine is commonly prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of pain and inflammation in chronic joint disorders such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as in ankylosing spondylitis. It may also be used for short-term management of acute pain, including acute gouty arthritis and certain musculoskeletal conditions, when a doctor considers a COX-2 selective NSAID appropriate. It is intended to improve pain control, mobility, and overall comfort but does not cure the underlying disease.

How does Etoshine work in the body?Arrow

Etoshine contains etoricoxib, which selectively inhibits the COX-2 enzyme involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins at sites of inflammation. Prostaglandins are chemical mediators that contribute to pain, swelling, and redness. By reducing prostaglandin production, Etoshine decreases inflammatory responses and alleviates pain. Because it has minimal effect on COX-1 at recommended doses, it may have a lower risk of causing certain gastrointestinal side effects compared with some traditional NSAIDs, although this risk is not completely eliminated.

Is Etoshine safe for long-term use?Arrow

Long-term use of Etoshine must be carefully evaluated by a healthcare professional. While it may be prescribed for chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, prolonged use of etoricoxib is associated with potential risks, including increased blood pressure, cardiovascular events (such as heart attack or stroke), kidney impairment, and gastrointestinal complications. The general principle is to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms, with regular medical review and monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and overall cardiovascular risk.

Can Etoshine be taken without a prescription or for self-medication?Arrow

Etoshine is a prescription-only medicine and should not be used for self-medication. Because etoricoxib can have significant side effects and interactions, and because the appropriate dose and duration depend on the individual’s medical history and risk factors, it must be prescribed and supervised by a qualified healthcare professional. Patients should not start, stop, or change the dose of Etoshine on their own and should not share this medicine with others.

What are the common side effects of Etoshine?Arrow

Common side effects of Etoshine may include headache, dizziness, heartburn, indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, swelling of the ankles or feet (peripheral edema), increased blood pressure, and fatigue. Some patients may also experience mild skin rashes or flushing. These effects are usually mild to moderate and may improve as the body adjusts to the medicine, but persistent or troublesome symptoms should be discussed with a doctor.

What serious side effects should I watch for while taking Etoshine?Arrow

Serious side effects, although less common, require immediate medical attention. These include chest pain, shortness of breath, sudden weakness or difficulty speaking (possible signs of heart attack or stroke), severe abdominal pain, black or bloody stools, vomiting blood or material that looks like coffee grounds (signs of gastrointestinal bleeding), marked swelling or rapid weight gain, reduced urine output (possible kidney problems), yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine (possible liver injury), severe skin reactions with blistering or peeling, and any signs of severe allergic reaction such as facial swelling, difficulty breathing, or widespread rash.

Who should avoid taking Etoshine?Arrow

Etoshine is generally contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to etoricoxib or any component of the formulation, those with active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding, severe liver impairment, significant kidney dysfunction not under specialist supervision, established ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, cerebrovascular disease (such as prior stroke), or moderate to severe heart failure. It is also usually avoided in patients with uncontrolled hypertension and in those with a history of serious allergic reactions to other NSAIDs. A doctor will assess individual risks before prescribing.

Can Etoshine be taken together with other painkillers or NSAIDs?Arrow

Etoshine should not routinely be combined with other NSAIDs, including over-the-counter ibuprofen, diclofenac, or high-dose aspirin, because this can increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, kidney damage, and other adverse effects without providing proportional additional benefit. Low-dose aspirin prescribed for cardiovascular protection may sometimes be continued, but this combination can still raise gastrointestinal risk and must be managed by a doctor. Before taking any additional painkillers, including herbal or over-the-counter products, patients should consult their healthcare provider.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Etoshine?Arrow

If a dose of Etoshine is missed, it should be taken as soon as the patient remembers, unless it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. In that case, the missed dose should be skipped and the regular dosing schedule resumed. Patients should not take a double dose to make up for a missed one, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If multiple doses are missed or there is uncertainty about how to proceed, the patient should seek advice from their prescribing doctor or pharmacist.

Can Etoshine affect blood pressure or heart health?Arrow

Etoshine, like other COX-2 selective NSAIDs, can lead to fluid retention and may increase blood pressure. In some patients, especially those with pre-existing cardiovascular disease or risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, or smoking, it may increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including heart attack and stroke. Blood pressure should be monitored regularly during treatment, particularly in the early weeks and in patients on long-term therapy. Any new or worsening chest pain, shortness of breath, or neurological symptoms should be reported immediately.
