Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant used to reduce muscle stiffness and spasms.
The effect of Etoshine MR Tablet usually starts to show within one hour.
Etoshine MR Tablet may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some people.
Yes, Etoshine MR Tablet is a painkiller that helps reduce pain and inflammation.
It is recommended to take Etoshine MR Tablet after food to avoid stomach upset.
Alternatives to Etoshine MR Tablet will be determined by your doctor based on your condition. Some alternatives may include other NSAIDs or muscle relaxants.
Etoshine MR is generally prescribed for short-term relief of acute musculoskeletal pain associated with muscle spasm and inflammation, such as acute low back pain, neck pain, painful muscle strain, or certain joint and soft-tissue conditions. It combines an anti-inflammatory pain reliever (etoricoxib) with a muscle relaxant to reduce pain, stiffness, and muscle spasm, thereby improving mobility and comfort.
Etoshine MR usually contains etoricoxib, a selective COX-2 inhibitor NSAID, and a centrally acting muscle relaxant. Etoricoxib reduces the production of prostaglandins, which are substances that cause pain and inflammation. The muscle relaxant component acts on the central nervous system or spinal cord pathways to decrease excessive muscle tone and spasm. Together, these actions help relieve pain, reduce stiffness, and improve movement in affected muscles and joints.
Etoshine MR should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably at the same time each day. It may be taken with or after food to minimize stomach discomfort. Do not crush or chew the tablet unless your doctor specifically advises otherwise. Do not exceed the prescribed number of doses or extend the duration of treatment without medical supervision.
Etoshine MR is generally intended for short-term use in acute painful conditions rather than for long-term continuous therapy. Prolonged use of etoricoxib and muscle relaxants can increase the risk of gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, kidney, liver, and central nervous system side effects. If you have chronic pain, your doctor may consider alternative long-term management strategies and will decide whether intermittent or limited courses of Etoshine MR are appropriate for you.
Common side effects may include stomach pain, nausea, indigestion, heartburn, diarrhea or constipation, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and a feeling of weakness or fatigue. Some people may notice ankle swelling, fluid retention, or a rise in blood pressure. These effects are often mild and temporary, but if they persist, worsen, or become troublesome, you should contact your doctor for advice.
Etoshine MR should generally be avoided by individuals with known allergy to etoricoxib, other NSAIDs, or the specific muscle relaxant in the formulation; those with active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding; severe liver or kidney impairment; uncontrolled high blood pressure; severe heart failure; or a history of heart attack, stroke, or certain circulatory problems where COX-2 inhibitors are contraindicated. It is also usually avoided in late pregnancy and may not be suitable during breastfeeding. Your doctor will assess your medical history before prescribing it.
You should not combine Etoshine MR with other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, diclofenac, or high-dose aspirin) or additional muscle relaxants unless specifically instructed by your doctor, as this can increase the risk of side effects such as stomach bleeding, kidney problems, excessive sedation, or muscle weakness. Inform your healthcare provider about all medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter products and herbal supplements, so they can check for potential interactions.
Etoricoxib and other COX-2 inhibitors can cause fluid retention, raise blood pressure, and may increase the risk of cardiovascular events, especially at higher doses or with prolonged use. Patients with existing hypertension, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, or a history of stroke require careful assessment and close monitoring if Etoshine MR is prescribed. In some cases, your doctor may decide that the risks outweigh the benefits and choose an alternative treatment.
Etoshine MR can cause dizziness, drowsiness, or visual disturbances in some individuals, mainly due to the muscle relaxant component and, less commonly, due to the analgesic. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks that require full alertness and coordination. Only resume such activities when you are sure you can do so safely.
If you miss a dose of Etoshine MR, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you frequently forget doses, discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist for advice on adherence strategies.
Alcohol consumption while taking Etoshine MR is generally discouraged. Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach irritation, gastrointestinal bleeding, and liver strain when combined with NSAIDs. It may also enhance drowsiness or dizziness caused by the muscle relaxant component, impairing your ability to perform tasks that require alertness. If you choose to drink alcohol, discuss this with your doctor and keep intake as low as possible.
Elderly patients are more susceptible to the gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, kidney, liver, and central nervous system side effects of NSAIDs and muscle relaxants. Etoshine MR can be used in older adults only under strict medical supervision, often at the lowest effective dose and for the shortest possible duration. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, liver function, and any signs of gastrointestinal bleeding or confusion is recommended.
