Cardiovascular and clotting risk
Use with caution / may be contraindicatedEv Active Tablet, like other estrogen‑containing products, is associated with an increased risk of venous and arterial thromboembolic events, particularly in women with additional risk factors such as smoking, obesity, age over 35 years, hypertension, diabetes with vascular complications, or a personal or strong family history of thrombosis.
Ev Active Tablet is a hormonal medicine that contains ethinyl estradiol, a synthetic form of the natural female hormone estrogen. It is typically used as part of combined hormonal therapy, often with a progestin, for contraception or for the management of certain menstrual or hormonal disorders, depending on the specific product formulation and local regulatory approvals.
Ethinyl estradiol in Ev Active Tablet acts like endogenous estrogen. In contraceptive combinations, it helps suppress ovulation by inhibiting the release of gonadotropins from the pituitary gland, stabilizes the endometrial lining, and alters cervical mucus to make it less permeable to sperm. In non‑contraceptive indications, it helps correct or modulate estrogen deficiency or imbalance, thereby improving cycle regularity and related symptoms.
Ev Active Tablet, or similar ethinyl estradiol–containing products, may be prescribed as part of combined oral contraceptive regimens to prevent pregnancy. In some settings, they may also be used for cycle regulation in women with irregular menses, for management of dysmenorrhea or heavy menstrual bleeding, and for certain hormone‑related gynecological conditions, as determined by a gynecologist or endocrinologist. The exact approved uses depend on the country and the specific combination product.
No. Ev Active Tablet should not be started without medical consultation. Estrogen‑containing products carry important risks, including blood clots and cardiovascular events, especially in women with certain risk factors such as smoking, obesity, hypertension, or a history of thromboembolism. A healthcare professional must evaluate your medical history, current medications, and risk profile before prescribing this medicine.
Common side effects associated with ethinyl estradiol–containing tablets include nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, headache, mild fluid retention, and changes in menstrual bleeding such as spotting or breakthrough bleeding. Some users may experience mood changes, altered libido, or mild weight changes. These effects are often mild and may improve after a few cycles, but persistent or severe symptoms should be discussed with a doctor.
Serious but less common adverse effects include venous thromboembolism (such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism), stroke, myocardial infarction, severe hypertension, liver problems, and gallbladder disease. Warning signs include sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, severe headache, visual disturbances, weakness or numbness on one side of the body, severe abdominal pain, or swelling and pain in one leg. If any of these occur, seek emergency medical care immediately.
Ev Active Tablet is not intended for use during pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs while taking an ethinyl estradiol–containing product, the tablets should be stopped and a healthcare professional consulted. Current evidence does not suggest that inadvertent early pregnancy exposure usually causes major harm, but continued use in pregnancy is not recommended, and the risks and benefits must be assessed by a clinician.
Estrogen‑containing tablets such as Ev Active Tablet are generally not preferred during early breastfeeding because estrogen can reduce the quantity of breast milk and may alter its composition. Progestin‑only methods are usually recommended if hormonal contraception is needed during the early postpartum period. If Ev Active Tablet is being considered while breastfeeding, this decision should be made in consultation with a healthcare professional who will weigh the benefits and potential risks to both mother and infant.
Yes. Ev Active Tablet can interact with several medicines. Drugs that induce liver enzymes, such as certain antiepileptics (for example, some formulations of carbamazepine or phenytoin), rifampicin and some other antitubercular agents, certain antiretrovirals, and herbal products like St John’s wort, can increase the metabolism of ethinyl estradiol and reduce its effectiveness. Conversely, ethinyl estradiol may affect the levels of other medicines. Always inform your doctor and pharmacist about all prescription, over‑the‑counter, and herbal products you are using.
The appropriate action after a missed dose depends on how many tablets were missed, where you are in the cycle, and whether the product is being used for contraception or another indication. In general, missing tablets may reduce contraceptive protection and may require additional precautions such as barrier methods for a certain period. Because schedules differ between brands, you should follow the instructions in the package leaflet for Ev Active Tablet or contact your doctor or pharmacist for individualized advice rather than guessing or doubling doses on your own.
Ev Active Tablet is generally contraindicated in women with a history of venous or arterial thromboembolic events, known thrombophilia, estrogen‑dependent malignancies such as certain breast or endometrial cancers, unexplained vaginal bleeding, severe liver disease or liver tumors, certain types of migraine (especially migraine with aura), and in those with known hypersensitivity to ethinyl estradiol or any excipients. Women who smoke heavily and are over 35 years of age are usually advised to avoid combined estrogen‑containing hormonal products because of an increased cardiovascular risk.
