How FEBREX PLUS TABLET 15'S Works

• Chlorpheniramine maleate blocks histamine receptors. Histamine is released during an allergic reaction and produces sneezing, a runny nose, watery eyes and itching, so blocking its action settles these symptoms. The same blocking action commonly causes drowsiness.
• Phenylephrine hydrochloride narrows the blood vessels lining the nose. Cold, sinus and allergy symptoms swell these blood vessels, which blocks the airway, and narrowing them again reduces the swelling and makes breathing through the nose easier.
• Paracetamol reduces the production of prostaglandins, chemical messengers in the brain that raise body temperature and increase pain signalling. Lower prostaglandin levels bring fever down and ease headache and body ache.

Chlorpheniramine commonly causes drowsiness and a dry mouth, nose or throat. Phenylephrine can raise heart rate and blood pressure in some patients. Paracetamol is generally well tolerated at the prescribed amount, but taking more than prescribed carries a risk of serious liver injury, particularly in anyone who drinks alcohol regularly or already has liver disease. Rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing are signs of an allergic reaction and need immediate medical attention. Severe dizziness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or a marked change in vision should also be reported without delay.

• If you miss a dose of FEBREX PLUS TABLET 15'S, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, protected from light and moisture, and out of the reach of children and pets. Keep them at the temperature stated on the current Indoco Remedies pack. Do not use the tablets after the expiry date printed on the pack.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water
• Take it with food if it upsets the stomach
• Avoid other medicines that also contain paracetamol while taking this tablet
• Tell the prescriber about high blood pressure, heart disease, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, prostate enlargement, or liver or kidney disease before starting
• Avoid driving or operating machinery until the effect of the medicine is known
• Seek medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen after a few days
• Seek urgent medical help for rash, facial swelling, breathing difficulty or unusual drowsiness

• Febrex Plus Tablet can be taken with or without food. Drinking plenty of fluids supports comfort during a cold, though it does not change how the medicine works.
• Alcohol adds to the drowsiness caused by chlorpheniramine and increases the risk of liver injury from the paracetamol content, so it is best avoided while taking this medicine.
