Composition
Common: headache, flushing, indigestion or heartburn, nasal congestion, back pain, and muscle aches — usually mild and temporary. Others: dizziness and mild changes in vision. Serious (seek medical attention): a painful or prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism); sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes; sudden decrease or loss of hearing; chest pain during sex (stop and seek help — do not take nitrates); or a serious allergic reaction.
For on-demand use, take one tablet with water about 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity — its effect can last up to around 36 hours. Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours. Take it only as your doctor has directed.
Never take it with nitrate medicines (for chest pain/angina) or 'poppers' (amyl nitrite) — the combination can cause a dangerous, potentially fatal drop in blood pressure. Tell your doctor about all your medicines, especially alpha-blockers.
No. You should not drink alcohol while taking tadalafil. Alcohol can lower your blood pressure further and increase the chance of dizziness, fainting, and headache.
Men with significant heart disease, recent heart attack or stroke, very low/uncontrolled blood pressure, or severe liver or kidney problems should avoid it or use it only under close medical supervision. Not for women or anyone under 18.
An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) needs urgent medical attention to prevent permanent damage. Seek emergency care immediately if this happens.
