Headache, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, wind, nausea and dizziness are among the more common effects. Domperidone can occasionally raise prolactin, causing breast swelling or discharge or changes in periods, and rarely causes movement side effects. Domperidone has been linked to heart rhythm problems. The risk is higher in people over 60, at higher daily doses, and with other medicines that affect heart rhythm. Palpitations, fainting or a racing or irregular heartbeat need urgent medical attention. Long-term PPI use has been linked with bone fractures, low magnesium, low vitamin B12 and a bowel infection called Clostridioides difficile. Diarrhoea that does not settle should be reported. Rare serious skin reactions and kidney inflammation have also been reported.
Pregnancy
Consult your doctorThe safety of the pantoprazole–domperidone combination during pregnancy has not been fully established, and use is generally restricted to situations where the expected benefit outweighs potential risks.
BreastFeeding
Use only if clearly neededPantoprazole and domperidone may pass into breast milk, and the clinical significance for the nursing infant is not fully known.
Alcohol
Limit or avoidAlcohol can irritate the stomach lining, increase acid production, and worsen reflux symptoms, potentially reducing the therapeutic benefit of Pantop DSR.
Allergies
Contraindicated in known hypersensitivityPantop DSR should not be used in individuals with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to pantoprazole, domperidone, other proton pump inhibitors, or any of the excipients in the formulation.
Heart and QT Prolongation Risk
Use with special cautionDomperidone, a component of Pantop DSR, has been associated with an increased risk of cardiac rhythm disturbances, including QT interval prolongation, particularly at higher doses or in susceptible individuals.
Pantop DSR Capsule is used for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It combines pantoprazole, which reduces stomach acid, with domperidone, which helps the stomach empty and reduces nausea and bloating.
