Headache, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, wind, dry mouth and dizziness can occur. Domperidone can raise the hormone prolactin, which can cause breast swelling or discharge and changes to periods. Domperidone has been linked to heart rhythm problems, particularly with medicines that affect heart rhythm or raise domperidone levels. Long-term PPI use can lower magnesium and vitamin B12, slightly increase fracture risk and increase the risk of bowel infection with Clostridioides difficile. Kidney inflammation has been reported. Palpitations, fainting, persistent watery diarrhoea, reduced urine, a blistering rash or swelling of the face need prompt medical attention.
