Pregnancy
Use only if clearly needed and prescribedSafety data for the fixed‑dose combination in Ascoril LS during pregnancy are limited. Individual components such as ambroxol and levosalbutamol have been used in pregnancy, but controlled human data are not sufficient to confirm complete safety, especially in the first trimester.
BreastFeeding
Caution advised during lactationLimited information is available on the excretion of the Ascoril LS combination into human breast milk. Ambroxol is known to pass into breast milk in small amounts, while data for guaifenesin and levosalbutamol are less robust.
Driving

Discuss full medical history with your doctorAscoril LS should be used cautiously in patients with certain conditions such as uncontrolled hypertension, ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, or severe asthma, because the bronchodilator component can influence heart rate, blood pressure, and metabolic parameters.
Ascoril LS is used for symptomatic relief of bronchospasm in conditions such as bronchial asthma and chronic bronchitis. Ambroxol and guaifenesin also help loosen and clear airway mucus.
Ascoril LS contains two medicines that act on mucus and a bronchodilator that acts on narrowed airways. A dry cough without mucus or bronchospasm can have a different cause and requires treatment suited to that cause.
Ambroxol makes thick respiratory secretions easier to clear. Guaifenesin reduces the viscosity of airway secretions and helps move loosened mucus upwards so it can be coughed out.
Yes. Palpitations are a reported effect of levosalbutamol. People with cardiovascular disease or abnormal heart rhythms require extra care with levosalbutamol-containing medicines.
Indian prescribing information for the same combination lists dizziness, fatigue and sleeplessness among possible effects. Palpitations, tremor and muscle cramps can also affect driving.
The ingredients of the second medicine need to be checked first. Cough suppressants such as codeine can reduce the cough reflex and interfere with mucus clearance, while another product can also duplicate one of the ingredients in Ascoril LS.
Children need the formulation and prescribed amount that match their age and clinical condition. Glenmark lists Ascoril LS products with different strengths, so the exact bottle should be checked against the prescription before a dose is measured.
