How CHERICOF LS COUGH SYRUP 100 ML Works

• Ambroxol changes the composition of mucus in the airway, making it thinner and easier to move. Guaifenesin increases the volume and reduces the thickness of respiratory secretions, which also helps mucus clear more easily. Together, the two ingredients make a productive cough more effective at clearing the airway.
• Levosalbutamol is the active isomer of salbutamol and acts on beta-2 receptors in the muscles surrounding the airway, relaxing them and widening the airway. This eases the bronchospasm, or airway tightening, that can accompany a productive cough in conditions such as asthma, COPD and bronchitis. It relieves bronchospasm as it happens and does not prevent attacks from occurring.

Nausea, stomach upset, a change in taste or a dry mouth or throat can occur with ambroxol and guaifenesin. Levosalbutamol commonly causes tremor, a fast heartbeat, headache, nervousness or muscle cramps, since it acts on beta-2 receptors found in muscle and heart tissue as well as the airway. Rare but serious skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis, have been reported with ambroxol. A rash with blistering or involvement of the mouth, eyes or genitals needs the medicine stopped and urgent medical attention. A marked increase in heart rate, chest pain or palpitations should also be reported promptly.

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

• Store the bottle in its original pack, protected from moisture and heat, and out of the reach of children and pets. Keep it at the temperature stated on the current Sun Pharma pack. Do not use the syrup after the expiry date printed on the carton.

• Measure each dose with the cup supplied with the pack, not a household spoon
• Drink plenty of fluids to support the effect of the mucolytic and expectorant ingredients
• Tell the prescriber about heart disease, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, or liver or kidney disease before starting
• This syrup relieves bronchospasm as it happens. Continue any separate preventer medicine as prescribed
• Seek urgent medical help for a rash with blistering, or for chest pain or marked palpitations
• Avoid unsupervised long-term or repeated use for a persistent cough without medical review

• Chericof LS Cough Syrup can be taken with or without food.
• Alcohol can add to the drowsiness and dizziness some patients experience with this combination and is best avoided while taking it.
