How COUGHSEE LS SYRUP 100 ML Works

• Levosalbutamol is the active form of salbutamol. It stimulates beta-2 receptors on the muscle around the airways, raising cyclic AMP in the muscle cells and relaxing them, so the airways widen and wheeze eases.
• Ambroxol stimulates surfactant, which stops mucus sticking to the airway walls, and helps the tiny hairs lining the airways move mucus upwards. Guaifenesin increases the water content of airway secretions, making phlegm less sticky and easier to cough up.

Levosalbutamol can cause tremor, a fast heartbeat or palpitations, nervousness, headache, dizziness and muscle cramps. It can lower blood potassium and change blood sugar. Ambroxol and guaifenesin can cause nausea, stomach upset, vomiting and diarrhoea. Serious reactions are rare. Levosalbutamol can occasionally cause paradoxical bronchospasm, where breathing suddenly gets worse. Ambroxol has been linked to severe allergic reactions and serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Worsening wheeze, chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, a spreading or blistering rash, mouth sores, or swelling of the face or throat need urgent medical attention, and the syrup should be stopped.

• If you miss a dose of COUGHSEE LS SYRUP 100 ML, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

• Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and follow the storage instruction printed on the current Surge Biotech pack. Keep it out of the reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date.

• Measure each dose with the device provided
• Drink plenty of fluids to help loosen mucus
• Do not take it with another cough syrup unless the doctor advises
• Stop it and seek help for worsening wheeze or a spreading rash
• Keep using prescribed inhalers
• See a doctor if the cough lasts more than three weeks

• No specific food interaction is known. Large amounts of tea, coffee or energy drinks can add to the tremor and fast heartbeat caused by levosalbutamol.
