Common side effects of FRANXIT Tablet may include drowsiness, lightheadedness, dizziness, unsteadiness, clumsiness, dry mouth, constipation, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, decreased libido, and difficulty with urination. Less common but potentially serious side effects include confusion, memory problems, slurred speech, muscle weakness, tremor, seizures, hallucinations, depression, suicidal thoughts, severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing), jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), changes in heart rate, and blood disorders. If you experience any of these side effects, especially severe ones, contact your doctor immediately.

Other medical conditions and interactions
Use under specialist supervisionFranxit Tablet should be used with particular caution in patients with a history of bipolar disorder, as antidepressant components may precipitate a switch to mania or hypomania.
Franxit Tablet is a combination psychotropic medicine containing flupentixol (a typical antipsychotic with anxiolytic properties) and melitracen (a tricyclic antidepressant). It is used for the short-term treatment of certain depressive and anxiety states, especially when symptoms are mild to moderate and may be accompanied by physical complaints such as fatigue, sleep disturbance, or bodily discomfort. It should only be used under medical supervision and is not intended for self-treatment of mood problems.
Franxit Tablet works by modulating neurotransmitters in the brain. Flupentixol primarily blocks dopamine receptors, which can reduce anxiety, tension, and psychomotor agitation. Melitracen inhibits the reuptake of noradrenaline and serotonin, increasing their levels in the synaptic cleft and improving mood, energy, and motivation. The combined effect aims to provide both antidepressant and anxiolytic benefits, but the exact clinical response varies between individuals.
The onset of action of Franxit Tablet can vary. Some patients may notice improvement in anxiety, sleep, or tension within a few days, while mood-related benefits may take 1 to 2 weeks or longer. Full therapeutic effects may require several weeks of consistent use. It is important to continue taking the medicine as prescribed and attend follow-up appointments so the doctor can assess response and adjust treatment if needed.
No. The dose and duration of Franxit Tablet must be determined only by a qualified doctor based on your clinical condition, age, other medications, and medical history. You should not start, stop, increase, or decrease the dose on your own. Changing the dose without supervision can lead to worsening of symptoms, increased side effects, or withdrawal-like reactions.
Common side effects of Franxit Tablet may include dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, tremor, increased sweating, mild weight changes, and changes in sleep pattern. Some people may experience orthostatic hypotension (a drop in blood pressure when standing), palpitations, or restlessness. Many of these effects are dose-related and may lessen as the body adjusts, but any persistent or troublesome symptom should be reported to your doctor.
Franxit Tablet is not classified as a habit-forming medicine in the way that some sedatives or opioids are, but abrupt discontinuation after prolonged use can lead to rebound or withdrawal-like symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, irritability, or return of depressive symptoms. Therefore, if discontinuation is required, your doctor will usually advise a gradual tapering schedule rather than sudden stoppage.
Franxit Tablet can be used in elderly patients only with great caution and close monitoring. Older adults are more sensitive to side effects such as orthostatic hypotension, confusion, sedation, anticholinergic effects (constipation, urinary retention, blurred vision), and movement disorders. They may also have coexisting heart, liver, or kidney disease and be on multiple medications, increasing the risk of interactions. Any use in this age group should be strictly guided by a specialist.
Alcohol should generally be avoided while taking Franxit Tablet. Both alcohol and Franxit Tablet act on the central nervous system and their combined use can increase drowsiness, dizziness, impaired judgment, and risk of accidents. Alcohol may also worsen mood and anxiety symptoms and interfere with the therapeutic effect of the medicine.
If you miss a dose of Franxit Tablet, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you frequently forget doses, discuss this with your doctor so that your regimen can be reviewed.
Franxit Tablet is generally contraindicated or should be avoided in patients with known hypersensitivity to flupentixol, melitracen, or any excipients; recent myocardial infarction; certain serious heart rhythm disorders; untreated narrow-angle glaucoma; severe urinary retention; and in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within a specified washout period after MAOIs, as determined by a doctor. It should be used with extreme caution in individuals with bipolar disorder, seizure disorders, significant liver or kidney impairment, or a history of suicidal behaviour. A full medical evaluation is necessary before starting therapy.
Franxit Tablet is generally not recommended for use in children or adolescents unless specifically advised by a specialist with expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry. Safety and efficacy data in younger age groups are limited, and there may be an increased risk of behavioural changes, agitation, or suicidal thoughts with antidepressant use in this population. Any off-label use must be carefully justified and closely monitored.
