How PLACIDA TABLET 10'S Works

• Flupentixol, at the low strength used in this tablet, blocks dopamine receptors in a way that is believed to lift mood and reduce anxiety, distinct from the higher doses used to manage psychosis in other conditions.
• Melitracen is a tricyclic antidepressant that increases the availability of noradrenaline and serotonin, chemical messengers in the brain involved in regulating mood, in the spaces between nerve cells. Combining the two is intended to provide a combined mood-lifting and anti-anxiety effect for mixed anxiety-depressive symptoms.

Dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation are the most commonly reported effects. Blurred vision and unexpected sleepiness during daily activities have also been reported. Uncontrolled muscle movements, tremor or stiffness (extrapyramidal symptoms), a fast or irregular heartbeat, or a severe allergic reaction need prompt medical attention.

• Store the tablets in their original pack, at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children and pets.

• Take at the same time each day as advised by the prescriber
• Do not stop taking this tablet abruptly without consulting the prescriber
• Avoid driving or operating machinery until it is known how this tablet affects alertness
• Avoid alcohol during treatment
• Report any unusual muscle stiffness, tremor, restlessness or fast heartbeat to the prescriber promptly

• Placida can generally be taken with or without food. Alcohol should be avoided during treatment, since it can increase drowsiness.
