Humstar 30/70 is a premixed insulin used to control high blood sugar in people with diabetes mellitus. It contains both rapid-acting and intermediate-acting insulin.
Unopened vials should be stored in the refrigerator (2°C to 8°C). Once in use, the vial can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 28 days. Protect from direct heat and light.
Common side effects include hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), injection site reactions (redness, swelling, itching), and lipodystrophy (changes in fat tissue at the injection site).
Humstar 30/70 is administered via subcutaneous injection. Follow your doctor's instructions on injection technique and site rotation.
If you experience symptoms of hypoglycemia (sweating, shaking, confusion), consume a fast-acting source of sugar such as glucose tablets, juice, or candy. Check your blood sugar and follow your doctor's instructions.
Consult your doctor before using Humstar 30/70 if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Your insulin needs may change during these times.
Consult your doctor for specific instructions. Generally, take the missed dose as soon as you remember, but do not double your dose to make up for a missed one.
Yes, Humstar 30/70 can interact with other medications, including certain oral diabetes medications, blood pressure medications, and steroids. Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.
Check your blood sugar as directed by your doctor. This may include checking before meals and at bedtime.
Humstar 30/70 is a premixed insulin, meaning it contains a fixed ratio of rapid-acting and intermediate-acting insulin. Other formulations may contain only one type of insulin or have different ratios.
Significant changes in diet or exercise can affect your blood sugar levels and insulin needs. Consult your doctor before making any major changes.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing, or wheezing. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms.
Humstar 30/70 helps lower blood sugar by allowing sugar to move from the blood into other body tissues where it is used for energy. It also stops the liver from producing more sugar.
When traveling, always carry your insulin in its original packaging with your prescription. Keep it in a cool place, avoid extreme temperatures, and be aware of time zone changes that may affect your insulin schedule.
If your blood sugar remains consistently high despite using Humstar 30/70 as prescribed, contact your doctor. Your dosage or treatment plan may need adjustment.
