Allergies
Contraindicated in known allergyDo not take Rabesec DSR if you are allergic to rabeprazole, domperidone, other proton pump inhibitors, or any component of the tablet.
RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), such as heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion.
RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach, which can help to relieve symptoms of acid reflux and indigestion.
RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S should be taken as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once a day with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the capsule before swallowing.
If you miss a dose of RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
The most common side effects of RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S include headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. If you experience any severe side effects, such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
It is recommended to avoid drinking alcohol while taking RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S, as alcohol can increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness.
It is important to discuss the risks and benefits of taking RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S during pregnancy or while BreastFeeding with your healthcare provider before starting treatment.
RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so it is important to use caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you.
It is important to inform your healthcare provider of any medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements, before starting treatment with RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S.
RABESEC DSR CAPSULE 10'S should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets.
Rabesec DSR tablet is mainly used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux, heartburn, gastritis, and related conditions where excess stomach acid and delayed stomach emptying cause symptoms. It helps relieve burning in the chest or upper abdomen, sour belching, regurgitation of food or acid, nausea, vomiting, and a feeling of heaviness or fullness after meals. It may also be used as part of treatment for peptic ulcers and to prevent acid-related symptoms in people who need to take painkillers that irritate the stomach, as advised by a doctor.
Rabesec DSR contains two active components. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that blocks the final step of acid production in the stomach, thereby reducing the amount of acid and allowing the food pipe and stomach lining to heal. Domperidone is a prokinetic and antiemetic that increases the movement of the stomach and upper intestine, helping food pass more quickly and reducing nausea and vomiting. Together, they control acid-related symptoms and improve digestion-related discomfort associated with reflux and gastritis.
Use of Rabesec DSR during pregnancy should be strictly based on a doctor’s assessment of risks and benefits. Rabeprazole and domperidone have limited safety data in pregnant women, and routine or self-medicated use is not recommended. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suspect you might be pregnant, inform your doctor before starting this medicine. Your doctor may choose an alternative treatment with a better-established safety profile in pregnancy or prescribe Rabesec DSR only if clearly needed and for the shortest possible duration.
Both rabeprazole and domperidone may pass into breast milk to some extent. Domperidone can affect prolactin levels and potentially influence milk production. Because of limited safety data in nursing infants, Rabesec DSR should be used with caution during breastfeeding and only under medical supervision. Your doctor will weigh the benefits for the mother against potential risks to the baby and may recommend monitoring the infant for side effects such as irritability, feeding difficulties, or unusual sleepiness. Do not use this medicine while breastfeeding without consulting your healthcare provider.
Rabesec DSR is not commonly associated with severe drowsiness, but some people may experience side effects such as dizziness, headache, or visual disturbances. If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, unusually tired, or have any symptoms that could affect your concentration or reaction time after taking the tablet, avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks that require alertness. Always see how the medicine affects you personally before engaging in such activities, and discuss persistent symptoms with your doctor.
Caution is required when using Rabesec DSR in people with liver disease because both rabeprazole and domperidone are processed by the liver. In mild to moderate liver impairment, a doctor may still prescribe it with close monitoring for side effects. In severe liver disease, domperidone use is generally discouraged, and alternative treatments may be preferred. If you have a history of hepatitis, cirrhosis, jaundice, or abnormal liver tests, inform your doctor before taking Rabesec DSR so that the treatment can be adjusted or an alternative chosen.
Rabesec DSR can sometimes be used in patients with kidney problems, but only under medical supervision. While rabeprazole is mainly processed by the liver, domperidone and its metabolites are partly excreted by the kidneys. In moderate to severe kidney impairment, the risk of side effects may increase, and your doctor may adjust the treatment plan or choose another medicine. If you have chronic kidney disease, are on dialysis, or have a history of kidney disorders, always inform your healthcare provider before starting Rabesec DSR.
It is advisable to avoid or minimize alcohol consumption while taking Rabesec DSR. Alcohol can irritate the stomach lining, increase acid production, and worsen symptoms of reflux, heartburn, and gastritis, thereby reducing the benefit of the medicine. Additionally, alcohol may enhance side effects such as dizziness or headache in some individuals. If you choose to drink, discuss it with your doctor and keep intake as low as possible, especially if you already have significant acid-related or liver problems.
If you have a known allergy to rabeprazole, domperidone, other proton pump inhibitors, or similar prokinetic medicines, you should not take Rabesec DSR. Signs of an allergic reaction can include rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, difficulty breathing, or severe dizziness. Inform your doctor about any previous drug allergies, including reactions to omeprazole, pantoprazole, esomeprazole, lansoprazole, or other anti-nausea medicines. If you develop any signs of allergy after taking Rabesec DSR, stop the medicine immediately and seek urgent medical care.
Long-term or repeated use of proton pump inhibitors like rabeprazole has been associated, in some studies, with an increased risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, magnesium deficiency, bone fractures, and certain infections such as Clostridioides difficile–associated diarrhea and pneumonia. Domperidone, especially at higher doses or in susceptible individuals, has been linked to heart rhythm disturbances. For these reasons, Rabesec DSR should be used at the lowest effective strength and for the shortest duration necessary, under regular medical review. Do not continue long-term therapy without periodic reassessment by your doctor.
Rabesec DSR can interact with several medicines. Rabeprazole may affect the absorption of drugs that require stomach acid, such as some antifungals, and may interact with certain blood thinners and antiviral medicines. Domperidone can interact with drugs that affect heart rhythm, some antibiotics, antifungals, antidepressants, and other medicines that influence liver enzymes. Always provide your doctor and pharmacist with a complete list of your prescription medicines, over-the-counter drugs, herbal products, and supplements before starting Rabesec DSR. Do not start or stop any medicine without medical advice while you are on this treatment.
