Common: back, muscle, or limb pain; and increased risk of infections (including skin, urinary, and ear infections). It can lower blood calcium (hypocalcaemia). Serious (seek medical attention): symptoms of low calcium — muscle spasms, twitching, cramps, or numbness/tingling in the fingers, toes, or around the mouth; jaw pain, swelling, or non-healing after dental work (rare jaw bone problem); unusual thigh or groin pain (rare atypical fracture); or a serious allergic reaction. Stopping treatment can cause rapid bone loss and spine fractures, so it must not be stopped without arranging follow-on treatment.
