Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines; however, not everyone experiences them. Common side effects may include altered blood sugar and cholesterol levels, injection site reactions, loss of appetite, abnormal liver function, swelling in the ankle or hand, difficulty sleeping or headache, mood swings or depression, weight changes, nausea or vomiting, vaginal dryness or bleeding, loss of interest in sexual intercourse, hot flushes, bone pain or muscle weakness, and breast tenderness.
Pregnancy
UNSAFEIt is unsafe to use LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION because it is contraindicated in pregnant women. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before taking this treatment.
LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION decreases testosterone or estrogen production, depending on the treated condition. This helps to slow the growth of cancer cells, reduce the size of uterine fibroids, and alleviate the symptoms of endometriosis and early onset of puberty.
LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION should not be used by pregnant and breastfeeding women, people who are allergic to the medication, or people with a history of osteoporosis or bone fractures. It should also be used cautiously in people with a past of depression or mental illness.
If you miss a dose of LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible to schedule the missed dose. Do not double up on doses to make up for a missed one.
Weight gain is not a common side effect of LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION, but it may occur in some people.
Endometriosis is a condition where the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside of it, which can cause pain and other symptoms. LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION decreases estrogen production, contributing to endometriosis tissue growth. By reducing estrogen levels, LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION can help alleviate the symptoms of endometriosis.
There are no known interactions of LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION with other drugs.
During the treatment of breast cancer with LUPROTAS 22.5 INJECTION, it is recommended to undergo regular checkups every three months in combination with an aromatase inhibitor. Do not receive this injection if you experience any abnormal vaginal bleeding. Consult your doctor immediately if you or your child is suffering from a headache even after treating it with pain killer, vision problems, buzzing, or ringing in the ear. If you have diabetes, ask your doctor to monitor your glucose and blood sugar levels regularly. Before starting, inform your doctor if you are still mensurating.
