TENIVA M FORTE TABLET, a medication primarily used for managing Type 2 Diabetes, can cause various side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Most common side effects are mild and often improve as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, some serious side effects require immediate medical attention. **Common Side Effects (often mild and temporary):** * Nausea * Vomiting * Diarrhea * Abdominal pain or discomfort * Loss of appetite * Metallic taste in mouth * Headache * Common cold-like symptoms (e.g., runny nose, sore throat - nasopharyngitis) * Constipation **Less Common / Serious Side Effects (seek immediate medical advice if you experience these):** * **Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar):** Especially if taken with other anti-diabetic medications like insulin or sulfonylureas. Symptoms include sweating, dizziness, shakiness, confusion, extreme hunger, blurred vision, and fast heartbeat. * **Lactic Acidosis (Rare but Severe):** A very rare but life-threatening complication associated with metformin. Symptoms include unusual muscle pain, difficulty breathing, severe stomach pain, unusual tiredness or weakness, dizziness, lightheadedness, and feeling cold. **This is a medical emergency.** * **Allergic Reactions:** Symptoms like skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema). * **Pancreatitis (Inflammation of the Pancreas):** Characterized by severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. * **Vitamin B12 Deficiency:** Long-term use of metformin can lead to this. Symptoms include unusual tiredness, weakness, numbness or tingling in hands and feet. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have concerns about side effects or if any side effect persists or worsens.

Allergies
Consult a DoctorIf you have a known allergy to any ingredient in TENIVA M FORTE TABLET 20'S, consult your doctor immediately.
TENIVA M FORTE TABLET is primarily used to control high blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It is typically prescribed when diet, exercise, and other single medications are not enough to manage blood sugar effectively.
TENIVA M FORTE TABLET contains two active ingredients: Teneligliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor) and Metformin Hydrochloride (a biguanide). This combination works synergistically to improve glycemic control.
Teneligliptin increases the levels of natural substances called incretins, which help the body produce more insulin when blood sugar is high and reduce the amount of sugar made by the liver. Metformin works by decreasing glucose production in the liver, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity in the body.
The dosage of TENIVA M FORTE TABLET is determined by your doctor based on your blood sugar levels, response to treatment, and other medical conditions. It should be taken exactly as prescribed, usually once or twice daily, preferably with meals to minimize stomach upset. Do not alter the dose without consulting your doctor.
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, metallic taste in the mouth, headache, and dizziness. These are usually mild and temporary. If any side effect persists or worsens, consult your doctor.
While rare, serious side effects can occur. Metformin can rarely cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is a medical emergency. Symptoms include unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain, dizziness, or unusual tiredness. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience these symptoms. Pancreatitis is also a rare but serious side effect linked to Teneligliptin.
TENIVA M FORTE TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems, and its use might be contraindicated or require dose adjustment depending on the severity of renal impairment, especially due to Metformin. Always inform your doctor about your kidney health before starting this medication.
While Teneligliptin itself has a low risk of causing hypoglycemia, when combined with Metformin or other antidiabetic drugs (especially insulin or sulfonylureas), the risk of low blood sugar can increase. It's important to monitor your blood sugar regularly and know the symptoms of hypoglycemia (e.g., sweating, shakiness, confusion).
It is generally advised to limit or avoid alcohol consumption while taking TENIVA M FORTE TABLET. Alcohol can increase the risk of lactic acidosis, a serious side effect of Metformin, and can also affect blood sugar levels, leading to hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
Store TENIVA M FORTE TABLET at room temperature, away from moisture and direct light. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not freeze the medication.
TENIVA M FORTE TABLET is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly necessary and prescribed by a doctor, as there is limited data on its safety in these conditions. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.
In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention or call your local poison control center. Symptoms of overdose can include severe gastrointestinal upset, severe hypoglycemia, or symptoms of lactic acidosis.
TENIVA M FORTE TABLET can be prescribed with other anti-diabetic medications, but it depends on your specific treatment plan and blood sugar control. Always inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions or increased risk of side effects like hypoglycemia.
TENIVA M FORTE, like other brands such as Zita-Met, Teneligliptin-Metformin, or Glycomet-T, contains the same active ingredients (Teneligliptin and Metformin). While the active components are identical, there might be differences in inactive ingredients, pricing, or tablet formulation. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have questions about switching brands.
