AFOGLIP M 1000mg Tablet is a medication primarily used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. While generally well-tolerated, it's important to be aware of potential side effects, both common and rare. Common side effects may include: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, and a metallic taste in the mouth. Some individuals might experience headaches, cold-like symptoms (nasopharyngitis), or constipation. Less common but more serious side effects can include: Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially if used with other diabetes medications like sulfonylureas or insulin. Rarely, it may cause skin rashes or other allergic reactions. Very rare but serious side effects to watch out for are: Lactic acidosis (a severe build-up of lactic acid in the blood, symptoms include extreme tiredness, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, and stomach discomfort – seek immediate medical attention), inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), and vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use. Always consult your doctor if any side effect persists or worsens, or if you experience any severe or unusual reactions.

Allergies
Consult a DoctorIf you have a known allergy to any ingredient in AFOGLIP M 1000MG TABLET 10'S, consult your doctor before use.
AFOGLIP M 1000mg Tablet is primarily used to treat Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It helps to control high blood sugar levels when diet and exercise alone are not enough.
AFOGLIP M 1000mg Tablet contains two active ingredients: Teneligliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride. Metformin is present in a strength of 1000mg, and Teneligliptin is typically 20mg.
This tablet works through a dual mechanism. Teneligliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases the release of insulin from the pancreas and reduces hormones that raise blood sugar. Metformin is a biguanide that reduces glucose production in the liver, decreases glucose absorption from the intestines, and improves insulin sensitivity.
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, metallic taste in the mouth, and headache. These usually subside as your body adjusts to the medication.
Serious but rare side effects can include lactic acidosis (a build-up of lactic acid in the blood, more common with Metformin), pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), severe allergic reactions, and kidney problems. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms like severe stomach pain, persistent vomiting, unexplained muscle pain, or difficulty breathing.
You should take AFOGLIP M 1000mg Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with meals to reduce stomach upset. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet; swallow it whole.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
No, you should not stop taking AFOGLIP M 1000mg Tablet without consulting your doctor. Stopping the medication abruptly can lead to a rapid increase in blood sugar levels, which can be dangerous. Diabetes is a chronic condition that requires continuous management.
AFOGLIP M 1000mg Tablet is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a doctor after weighing the potential benefits and risks. Always consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
It is generally advised to limit or avoid alcohol consumption while taking AFOGLIP M, especially due to the Metformin component. Alcohol can increase the risk of lactic acidosis and may also affect blood sugar levels, leading to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
Store AFOGLIP M 1000mg Tablet at room temperature, away from direct light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not use the medication after its expiry date.
An overdose can lead to severe hypoglycemia (dizziness, confusion, sweating, tremors, rapid heartbeat) or lactic acidosis (severe stomach pain, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, unusual tiredness). Seek emergency medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose.
Metformin, one of the components, is often associated with weight stability or modest weight loss, unlike some other antidiabetic medications that may cause weight gain. Teneligliptin is generally weight-neutral.
Yes, there are several other brands that contain the combination of Teneligliptin and Metformin, though the Metformin strength might vary. Examples include Ziten-M, Teneli-M, Tenglyn M, among others. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands.
Metformin is primarily cleared by the kidneys. If you have impaired kidney function, your doctor may need to adjust the dose or choose an alternative medication, as there's an increased risk of lactic acidosis. Regular kidney function tests may be required while on this medication.
While Metformin and Teneligliptin generally have a low risk of causing hypoglycemia when used alone, the risk can increase if taken with other antidiabetic medications like insulin or sulfonylureas. It's important to monitor your blood sugar levels regularly.
