About REDITUX 100 INJECTION
- REDITUX 100 INJECTION contains the medicine called rituximab. This injection is used to treat several serious conditions in adults. It is used alone or with other medicines for certain types of blood cancers: non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (cancer affecting white blood cells called B-cells) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (a common type of B-cell cancer). It also treats severe rheumatoid arthritis (where the immune system attacks joints) when used with methotrexate. Furthermore, it is used for certain blood vessel inflammations affecting lungs and kidneys (granulomatosis with polyangiitis or microscopic polyangiitis) in adults and children aged 2 years and older. It can also help treat severe pemphigus vulgaris, a skin condition causing painful blisters.
- REDITUX 100 INJECTION works by targeting specific cells in the body called CD20 B-cells. It belongs to a group of medicines called monoclonal antibodies. You should not receive this injection if you are allergic to rituximab or any other ingredient, if your immune system is very weak, or if you have a serious active infection. Tell your doctor about any heart problems, heart failure, or breathing difficulties before starting treatment. It's also important to mention if you have ever had a Hepatitis B infection, as REDITUX 100 INJECTION can sometimes cause this infection to return, which can be serious. This injection is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Always tell your doctor about your complete medical history.
- Common side effects of REDITUX 100 INJECTION can include infections, feeling dizzy, swelling in the face or body, itchy skin, diarrhea, increased sweating, and changes in blood pressure. You must use effective contraception during treatment and for 12 months after your last dose if there is a chance you could become pregnant. This medicine is given by a healthcare professional. Sometimes, serious reactions can happen during or soon after the injection (within 24 hours). These infusion reactions can cause symptoms like high blood pressure, chest pain, headache, trouble breathing, vomiting, skin rash, or throat swelling. It is very important to tell your doctor or nurse right away if you notice any of these symptoms during or after your infusion. They will monitor you closely.
