Allergies
UnsafeDo not take Glypten M Tablet if you are allergic to Metformin or Teneligliptin or any of its ingredients.
GLYPTEN M TABLET 10'S is primarily used to control high blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It works best when combined with a proper diet and exercise program.
GLYPTEN M TABLET contains two active ingredients: Teneligliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride.
Teneligliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, increases the release of insulin from the pancreas and reduces the hormones that raise blood sugar. Metformin works by reducing glucose production in the liver and improving the body's sensitivity to insulin. Together, they help lower blood sugar effectively.
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, a metallic taste in the mouth (due to Metformin), and headache. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can occur, especially if taken with other diabetes medications or without proper diet.
Metformin, one of the ingredients, is generally associated with stable weight or modest weight loss. Teneligliptin is typically weight-neutral. So, GLYPTEN M is unlikely to cause significant weight gain and may even contribute to slight weight loss in some individuals.
GLYPTEN M TABLET, especially due to its Metformin component, should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment. It is contraindicated in severe kidney disease as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Your doctor will assess your kidney function before prescribing it.
It is generally advisable to limit or avoid alcohol consumption while taking GLYPTEN M TABLET. Alcohol can increase the risk of lactic acidosis, a serious side effect of Metformin, and may also affect blood sugar levels, potentially leading to hypoglycemia.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
An overdose could lead to severe hypoglycemia (dizziness, confusion, sweating, rapid heartbeat) or lactic acidosis (muscle pain, weakness, unusual tiredness, trouble breathing, slow heartbeat, stomach pain). Seek immediate medical attention if you suspect an overdose.
Store GLYPTEN M TABLET at room temperature, away from direct light and moisture. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not freeze the medicine.
GLYPTEN M TABLET is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a doctor. The risks and benefits should be carefully evaluated by your healthcare provider.
GLYPTEN M TABLET contains Teneligliptin and Metformin. While other brands may also contain these same active ingredients (e.g., Zita Met, Tenapan, Tene M), the specific formulation, inactive ingredients, and pricing might vary. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding brand equivalents.
While GLYPTEN M TABLET starts working relatively quickly to help lower blood sugar, the full therapeutic effect and stability in blood glucose levels are typically observed over a few weeks with consistent use, diet, and exercise.
Yes, a balanced diet low in sugar and refined carbohydrates is crucial. Your doctor or a dietitian can provide specific dietary recommendations to complement the medication's effect and help prevent hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.
Unless specifically stated by your doctor or on the packaging, it is generally recommended to swallow GLYPTEN M TABLET whole. Crushing or splitting tablets can alter the controlled release of the medication and affect its efficacy or increase side effects.
Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious side effect, mainly associated with Metformin. Symptoms include unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, or feeling cold. If you experience these, seek immediate medical attention.
