About RISTOVA 500MG/50ML INJECTION
- RISTOVA 500MG/50ML INJECTION contains the active medicine called rituximab. It is used to treat several serious conditions in adults. It can be used alone or with other medicines to treat a type of cancer affecting white blood cells called B-lymphocytes (Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma) and a common type of cancer affecting B-cells (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia). It is also used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (a condition where the body's immune system attacks its own joints), usually with another medicine called methotrexate. Other uses include treating rare conditions causing blood vessel inflammation, mainly affecting the lungs and kidneys (Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis and Microscopic Polyangiitis) in adults and children aged 2 years and older. It is also used for moderate to severe pemphigus vulgaris (an autoimmune condition causing painful blisters on the skin and inside the mouth, throat, nose, and genitals).
- RISTOVA 500MG/50ML INJECTION belongs to a group of medicines called 'monoclonal antibodies', specifically targeting a protein called CD20 found on the surface of certain white blood cells (B-cells). By targeting these cells, the medicine helps the body fight the specific diseases it is used for. This can reduce the number of B-cells in the body.
- You should not receive this injection if you are allergic to rituximab or any other ingredients, have a very weak immune system, or currently have a severe infection.
- It's crucial to discuss your complete medical history with your doctor before starting treatment with RISTOVA 500MG/50ML INJECTION. Tell your doctor before starting treatment if you have heart problems, heart failure, or breathing difficulties. It's important to inform your doctor if you have ever had Hepatitis B, as this medicine can sometimes cause the virus to become active again, which can be serious. Mention all your health conditions, especially any infections you have now or have had in the past (like Hepatitis B or C, HIV, or shingles), kidney problems, lung problems, or any other serious illness. Also, provide a list of all medications you are currently taking, including prescription, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal supplements, as they can interact with RISTOVA 500MG/50ML INJECTION. This injection is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Like all medicines, RISTOVA 500MG/50ML INJECTION can cause side effects. Common ones include feeling tired or weak, dizziness, swelling (face/body), itchy skin, diarrhea, increased sweating, and changes in blood pressure (low or high). You might also be more prone to infections. Women who could become pregnant must use effective birth control during treatment and for 12 months after the last dose. RISTOVA 500MG/50ML INJECTION is given as an infusion (drip), and some people may have reactions during or shortly after the infusion (within 24 hours). These can be serious. Tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you notice symptoms like fever, chills, headache, chest pain, breathing problems, swelling (face/throat), or a rash. During your treatment, your doctor will perform regular blood tests to monitor your blood cell counts and check for any signs of infection or other complications. It's important to attend all scheduled appointments and tests.
