About X-MAB 500 INJECTION

  • X-MAB 500 INJECTION contains the active medicine called rituximab. This injection is used to treat several different serious health conditions in adults, and sometimes in children too. It helps fight certain types of cancer that affect white blood cells, like Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. It works by targeting specific cells involved in these cancers. X-MAB 500 INJECTION is also used for certain autoimmune diseases where the body's defense system mistakenly attacks its own parts. This includes moderate-to-severe Rheumatoid Arthritis (a disease causing joint pain and swelling), usually given with another medicine called methotrexate. It also treats inflammation of blood vessels (Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis and Microscopic Polyangiitis), and Pemphigus Vulgaris, a skin condition causing painful blisters.
  • X-MAB 500 INJECTION belongs to a group of medicines called 'monoclonal antibodies' that specifically target certain cells, in this case, cells with a marker called CD20, often found on B-cells. This helps the medicine work against the diseases it treats. You should not receive this injection if you are allergic to rituximab or any of its ingredients, have a very weak immune system, or currently have a severe active infection. It's crucial to tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have heart problems, heart failure, or difficulty breathing, as this medicine can affect the heart and lungs. Also, mention if you have ever had Hepatitis B infection. In some cases, this virus can become active again while on this treatment, which can be serious. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are generally not advised when taking X-MAB 500 INJECTION and for some time afterward, so discuss this with your doctor.
