About MABTAS 500 INJECTION
- MABTAS 500 INJECTION contains the main ingredient rituximab. It is used to treat several serious conditions in adults. It can be used alone or with other medicines for certain types of blood cancer: Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (a cancer affecting specific white blood cells called B-lymphocytes) and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (a common form of cancer affecting B-cells). It's also prescribed for moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (a condition where your immune system attacks your joints) when used in combination with methotrexate. Other uses include treating rare conditions causing blood vessel inflammation, mainly affecting the lungs and kidneys (like Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis or Microscopic Polyangiitis) in adults and children age 2 and older. It also treats a serious autoimmune skin condition called pemphigus vulgaris, which causes painful blisters on the skin and inside the mouth, throat, nose, and genitals.
- MABTAS 500 INJECTION belongs to a group of medicines called monoclonal antibodies. It works by targeting and attaching to a specific protein (CD20) found on the surface of certain immune cells (B-cells). By doing this, it helps the body fight the disease. Do not use MABTAS 500 INJECTION if you are allergic to rituximab or any of the other ingredients in this medicine, if you have a severely weakened immune system, or if you currently have a serious active infection. Before starting treatment, it is very important to tell your doctor about your full medical history, especially if you have heart problems, heart failure, or breathing difficulties. You should also mention if you have ever had a Hepatitis B infection, as this medicine can sometimes cause the infection to become active again, which can be very serious. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not recommended while you are receiving this injection.
- Common side effects you might experience with MABTAS 500 INJECTION include signs of infection, a decrease in red blood cells, feeling dizzy, swelling in the face or body, itchy skin, diarrhea, increased sweating, and changes in blood pressure (either low or high). If you are a woman who can become pregnant, you must use reliable birth control during your treatment and for 12 months after your last dose, as the medicine can harm an unborn baby. MABTAS 500 INJECTION is given as an infusion into your vein, and severe reactions can occur during or within 24 hours after the infusion. These are known as infusion reactions. Be aware of symptoms like increased blood pressure, chest pain, headache, difficulty breathing, vomiting, skin rash, or throat swelling. It is crucial to tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you notice any signs of an infusion reaction or any other unusual symptoms during or after your treatment. Your healthcare team will monitor you closely throughout the process to ensure your safety. Always discuss any concerns you have with your doctor.
