About MABTAS N 500 INJECTION
- MABTAS N 500 INJECTION contains the active ingredient rituximab. It is used to treat several serious medical conditions in adults. It can be used by itself or with other medicines to treat certain types of blood cancers: non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (a cancer that affects white blood cells called B-lymphocytes) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), which is a common type of B-cell cancer. MABTAS N 500 INJECTION is also used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in adults, when used together with methotrexate. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own joints. Furthermore, it is indicated for treating granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) or microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) in adults and children aged 2 years and older. These are conditions where blood vessels become inflamed, often affecting organs like the lungs and kidneys. Finally, it treats moderate to severe pemphigus vulgaris, an autoimmune skin condition causing painful blisters on the skin and mucous membranes like the mouth, throat, and genitals.
- MABTAS N 500 INJECTION belongs to a group of medicines called anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies. It works by targeting and attaching to a specific protein (CD20) found on the surface of B-cells. This helps the immune system destroy these B-cells, which can be beneficial in treating the mentioned conditions. Do not take this injection if you are allergic to rituximab or any other ingredients in this medicine. You should also avoid it if you have a severely weakened immune system or are currently fighting a severe active infection. It is crucial to inform your doctor about any history of heart problems, heart failure, or breathing difficulties before starting treatment, as these conditions may require careful monitoring. Be sure to also mention if you have ever had a hepatitis B infection. In some cases, this virus can become active again during or after treatment, which can be very serious. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are generally not advised while receiving this injection. Effective birth control methods should be used during treatment and for 12 months after your last dose if you could become pregnant.
- Common side effects you might experience with MABTAS N 500 INJECTION include signs of infection, a decrease in red blood cells (anemia), dizziness, swelling in the face or body, itchy skin, diarrhea, increased sweating, and changes in blood pressure (either low or high). This medicine can cause severe reactions, especially during or within 24 hours after it is given as an infusion. These are called infusion reactions. It is very important to tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you experience any symptoms of an infusion reaction, such as increased blood pressure, chest pain, headache, difficulty breathing, vomiting, skin rashes (like hives), or swelling of the throat or tongue. Your medical team will monitor you closely during the infusion and know how to manage these reactions. Regular check-ups and blood tests will also be necessary throughout your treatment course to monitor your response and check for potential issues.

- MABTAS N 500 INJECTION must always be given by a trained doctor or nurse in a proper medical setting. It is very important that you do not try to give yourself this injection at home. Before receiving the MABTAS N 500 INJECTION, you will typically be given other medications, known as 'pre-medication'. These are administered beforehand to help minimise potential side effects or reactions that might occur during the treatment. Your doctor will carefully determine the correct dose and the length of your treatment course. This decision depends on several factors, including the specific condition being treated, its severity, your overall health status, and how your body responds to the medication. The injection is given as a slow drip directly into a vein, a process called intravenous infusion. During the infusion and afterwards, healthcare professionals will closely monitor you for any possible unwanted side effects, such as allergic reactions or changes in vital signs. Benefits of MABTAS N 500 INJECTION
- MABTAS N 500 INJECTION is a targeted therapy that works by attaching to specific cells called B-lymphocytes which carry the CD20 protein. In certain blood cancers like Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), this medicine triggers the death of cancerous B-cells and stops their uncontrolled growth, providing powerful anti-cancer effects.
- For autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, MABTAS N 500 INJECTION helps by regulating the overactive immune system. It reduces the production of inflammatory substances and signals, such as rheumatoid factor and proinflammatory cytokines, and interferes with other immune responses that contribute to joint inflammation and damage, helping to manage symptoms and disease progression.
