About MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION
- MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION contains the active ingredient rituximab. It is used to treat several different serious conditions in adults. You might receive it alone or with other medicines for certain types of blood cancers like non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (a cancer affecting white blood cells called B-lymphocytes) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (a common form of cancer affecting B-cells).
- This injection is also used for moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis in adults. This is a condition where your own immune system mistakenly attacks the joints. For this use, MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION is given along with methotrexate. It's also prescribed for adults and children aged 2 years and older with granulomatosis with polyangiitis or microscopic polyangiitis (conditions causing inflammation of blood vessels, often affecting the lungs and kidneys). Another use is for moderate to severe pemphigus vulgaris, an autoimmune disease causing painful blisters on the skin and the lining of the mouth, throat, nose, and genitals.
- MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION belongs to a group of medicines called anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies. These medicines work by targeting and attaching to a specific protein (CD20) found on the surface of B-cells. Since B-cells are involved in the conditions treated by this injection, targeting them helps manage the disease activity. Do not take this injection if you are allergic to rituximab or any other ingredients, have a very weak immune system, or have a severe active infection.
- It is very important to inform your doctor about your medical history before starting treatment. Tell them if you have heart disease, heart failure, or breathing problems. Also, let your doctor know if you have ever had a hepatitis B infection. In some cases, this infection can become active again while taking this injection, which can be serious. Your doctor may check you for this and monitor you closely. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not recommended while you are receiving this injection and for a period afterwards.
- Common side effects of MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION can include feeling unwell, like having signs of infection, reduced numbers of red blood cells, dizziness, swelling (especially of the face or body), itchy skin, diarrhea, increased sweating, and changes in blood pressure (low or high). Women who can become pregnant should use effective birth control during the treatment and for 12 months after the last dose.
- This medicine can cause serious infusion reactions, which may happen during or within 24 hours after the injection is given. Symptoms can include increased blood pressure, chest pain, headache, difficulty breathing, vomiting, skin rashes, or swelling of the throat. You will be monitored during the infusion. It is crucial to tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you experience any of these symptoms so they can provide appropriate care.

Dosage of MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION
- MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION is a specialized medication that must only be administered by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a trained doctor or nurse. It is critically important that you never attempt to give yourself this injection; self-administration is not permitted due to the complex nature of the treatment and the need for careful monitoring. To help minimize potential side effects before receiving your dose of MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION, your doctor will likely give you other medications, often called pre-medication. These are designed to make the infusion process more comfortable and safer for you. Your specific dose and how long you will need this treatment will be carefully determined by your doctor. This decision is based on several factors, including the severity of your condition, your overall health, and how you respond to the medication. The injection is not given directly into a muscle or under the skin; instead, it is administered as an intravenous infusion, meaning it is slowly dripped into a vein, typically over a period of time. During and after the infusion, healthcare staff will closely monitor you for any signs of unwanted side effects or reactions to ensure your safety. This type of treatment is generally performed in a clinical or hospital setting where appropriate medical support is readily available. It is essential that this injection is *only* given by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a trained doctor or nurse, in a clinical setting like a hospital or clinic. Self-administration is strictly not advised due to the complexity of the infusion process, the potential for immediate reactions, and the necessity for continuous monitoring. Before receiving MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION, you will typically be given other medications, often referred to as pre-medication. These may include antihistamines and corticosteroids, and their purpose is to help reduce the risk and severity of potential side effects or infusion-related reactions.
- Your doctor will carefully determine the specific dose of MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION you receive and the overall duration of your treatment plan. This decision is highly individualized and is based on several factors, including the severity and activity of your rheumatoid arthritis or other condition being treated, your overall health status, weight, and how well you are responding to the medication. The treatment schedule will be tailored specifically for you.
- MABTAS RA 500 INJECTION is administered as an intravenous infusion. This means the medication is delivered slowly and directly into a vein, usually in your arm, via a drip. This process typically takes several hours, and you will be asked to remain comfortable while it is happening. During the entire infusion, and usually for a period afterwards (often 1-2 hours), you will be closely monitored by the healthcare team. They will watch for any signs of adverse reactions, such as allergic responses, changes in vital signs (like blood pressure or heart rate), or any discomfort, to ensure your safety and manage any potential issues promptly.
