About REDITUX 500 INJECTION

  • REDITUX 500 INJECTION contains the active ingredient rituximab. This medicine is used to treat several serious health conditions in adults. It helps fight certain types of cancers, such as Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which affects a type of white blood cell called B-lymphocytes, and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), another common blood cancer involving B-cells. For these cancers, it can be used alone or with other cancer treatments.
  • Beyond cancer, REDITUX 500 INJECTION is also prescribed for severe autoimmune diseases where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues. This includes moderate to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, a condition causing joint inflammation, usually given alongside methotrexate. It's also used for Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis or Microscopic Polyangiitis, rare diseases causing blood vessel inflammation that can affect organs like the lungs and kidneys; this use extends to children aged 2 years and older. Furthermore, it treats moderate to severe Pemphigus Vulgaris, a skin disorder causing painful blisters on the skin and mucous membranes.
  • REDITUX 500 INJECTION is a type of targeted therapy called an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody. This means it specifically targets and attaches to a protein called CD20 found on the surface of B-cells. By doing this, it helps the body's immune system destroy these specific cells. This action is beneficial in conditions where B-cells are abnormal or contributing to the disease. The medicine is given directly into a vein as an intravenous infusion in a hospital or clinic setting, typically under close medical supervision.
  • It's important *not* to receive REDITUX 500 INJECTION if you are allergic to rituximab or any other ingredients in the medicine.
